Before Setting up Your Radio

You must register your callsign in order to be heard over the internet. Visit this link.

Important Info

The bullets in the callsigns denote spaces. There must be 8 characters in the RPT1 and RPT2 callsign fields. The command letters for Info, Echo, and Unlink, must also be in the 8th character space. Pad them with 7 spaces denoted below by bullets.

General Talking

To talk to a local DSTAR station on the same repeater as well as to stations on an already linked reflector. After linking to a repeater or reflector, you MUST come back to this memory channel to talk.

1. Make sure you have setup the information for “My Callsign.”
2. Enter the frequency and offset.
3. Set mode to DV.
4. In the URCall field enter “CQCQCQ” without quotes.
5. In the RPT1 field enter “W3VG•••B” without quotes.
6. In the RPT2 field enter “W3VG•••G” without quotes.
7. The “B” and “G” MUST be in the 8th character space, thus the spaces.

Inquiry or Info – Get Repeater Status

This will tell you if and what the repeater is linked to already.

1. Make sure you have setup the information for “My Callsign.”
2. Enter the frequency and offset.
3. Set mode to DV.
4. In the URCall field enter “•••••••I” without quotes. That is a capital “i” in the eighth character space.
5. In the RPT1 field enter “W3VG•••B” without quotes.
6. In the RPT2 field enter “W3VG•••G” without quotes.

Unlink – Unlink from a Reflector or Repeater

This command will unlink the repeater from all connected links.

1. Make sure you have setup the information for “My Callsign.”
2. Enter the frequency and offset.
3. Set mode to DV.
4. In the URCall field enter “•••••••U” without quotes. The letter “U” is in the eighth character space.
5. In the RPT1 field enter “W3VG•••B” without quotes.
6. In the RPT2 field enter “W3VG•••G” without quotes.

Echotest – To Check Your Audio Quality

This will record and play back your transmitted & received audio.

1. Make sure you have setup the information for “My Callsign.”
2. Enter the frequency and offset.
3. Set mode to DV.
4. In the URCall field enter “•••••••E” without quotes. The letter “E” is in the eighth character space.
5. In the RPT1 field enter “W3VG•••B” without quotes.
6. In the RPT2 field enter “W3VG•••G” without quotes.

Notes

1. If the repeater is already linked to a reflector and you send another link command (to link to another reflector or repeater) the current/active link will be dropped!
2. The letter B denotes a 70cm repeater or link. The “B” MUST be in the 8th character space.
3. The letter G specifies that you want your audio to go over the gateway If anyone is connected through the internet, they’ll hear you. Again the letter “G” MUST be in the 8th character space.
4. The callsigns MUST be in CAPITAL letters.
5. Use this link to the “DSTAR Calculator” to calculate how to setup reflector connections. NOTE: The W3VG hotspot will not appear in the list of repeaters. Just use: RPT1: W3VG•••B RPT2: W3VG•••G
